| Orientation |
So far
we have studied all of the Greek tenses in the indicative mood,
but only in the active voice. Now we will embark on
studying all of the tenses in the indicative mood in both the passive
and middle voice. All
of the active tenses that we have covered have been based upon the
primary and secondary active
suffixes. This accounts for the formal similarities, e.g., between
first aorist active and perfect active indicative suffixes, since
both use the secondary active endings (the main difference between
the endings is that the first aorist is characterized by a s-infix,
while the perfect has a k-infix)..
Likewise, all of the remaining tenses of the indicative mood will
be based upon two groups of suffixes called the primary and
secondary middle
suffixes. |
